Funny, shameless, and slutty is Karley Sciortino’s Slutever book.
It is a memoir of what life has been like for a millennial woman who comfortably identifies as a slut. Slut Ever is informative and thought-provoking which takes its readers on a journey through the thought process of a woman who allows her sexual curiosity to navigate her life.

Sciortino takes her readers on a slut odyssey of her life. She explains the background of when and how her sexual curiosity began before she identified as a slut. Unravels the periods of her life when she embraces her sluttiness, which inspired her new identity and abled her to use it to her best advantage; all while ending with where she is at now as well as where she believes her slut lifestyle will or should take her next.

Slut Ever is unusually inspiring because Sciortino continually instills her love for her life in the readers’ mind. Her love is felt through her writer, and it allows a reader to possibly believe that no matter what path they choose in life, as long as they are happy it’s okay.

Sciortino normalizes the slut lifestyle in Slut Ever. She combines her free-spirited, feminist mindset with her carefree, adventurous, sexual lifestyle into a manifesto; that affirms a woman’s ability to be sexually flexible, whether she sees herself as a slut, has been called a slut, or curious about slutty life.

Overall Slut Ever is one girls’ narration of how sluts can make it in the world whether they define themselves as one or not.

My Thoughts:

I was honestly surprised by the context of Slut Ever, my assumption of the book was from not knowing Sciortino’s work before watching her show on Vice, Slut Ever. I believed she was a sex journalist who explored kinks, and sex work.

I saw her one other time on the Netflix show Easy.
Before reading her book, I found her work on Vogue and eventually started reading her work on her site.

After reading her work and memoir, I believe what Sciortino is doing is great for the woman in the sex community. She is talented, smart, and a voice for sluts who do not know how to put the words together, when trying to explain why they are the way they are.
In all honesty, whether a person is led by their heart, sex, spirit, body, or mind, life will use that tool to guide you in the direction you need to go.

I recommend Slut Ever for the person who wants to understand if being a slut is okay. It’s for the wanderlusts of the world whether they have sex or not because its okay to get lost in the beauty of life. I also recommend the book to a person who wants/needs to get out of their comfort zone and get a better understanding of why and how others might be living their lives.

Slut Ever is for everyone who no longer wants to conform to the standard way of how to live your life.
